James F. Peters, Ph.D., is a Full Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Manitoba and was a Postdoctoral Fellow, Syracuse University and researcher in the Rome AI Laboratory, Griffiss Air Force Base, New York (1991), Asst. Prof., University of Arkansas, 1991-1994, and Researcher in the Mission Sequencing and Deep Space- Telecommunications Divisions, Jet Propulsion Laboratory/Caltech, Pasadena, California (1991-1994). In 1992, he verified the correctness of the command sequencing rules for the NASA TOPEX/Poseidon ocean-monitoring satellite and, in 1993-1944, he worked on a proof of correctness of an antenna controller for the NASA deep space network. His early work at the U of M included Petri net models of satellite subsystems and the design of robotic inspection systems for osenberg, A. Skowron) of a book entitled New Frontiers in Scientific Discovery, nd Co-Editor (with S.K. Pal, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, India) of a book on rough-fuzzy image analysis published in 2010 by Chapman & Hall/CRC Press. He is the author of over 40 articles published in refereed journals during the past 5 years, including IJICC best journal article awards in 2008 and 2011 and JRS2007 best paper award. He is co-Editor-in-Chief of the TRS journal, Associate Editor and Editorial Board member of a number of other journals. His main research interests are merotopology, various forms of sets such as near sets, rough sets, and image analysis.

Jiye Liang is a professor of School of Computer and Information Technology and Key Laboratory of Computational Intelligence and Chinese Information Processing of Ministry of Education at Shanxi University, China. He received the B.S.degree from Shanxi University, China, in 1983, and the M.S. degree and Ph.D degree from Xi'an Jiaotong University, China, in 1990 and 2001, respectively. His current research interests include computational intelligence, granular computing, data mining and knowledge discovery. He has published more than 100 papers in his research fields.

Jerzy W. Grzymala-Busse is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Kansas, the Institute of Computer Science of the Polish Academy of Science, and the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszow, Poland; with research interests in data mining, knowledge discovery in data bases, machine learning, expert systems, reasoning under uncertainty and rough set theory. He is a member of eleven Editorial Boards of scientific journals and a member of Program Committees of many international conferences on data mining, artificial intelligence, intelligent systems etc. He has over 280 publications in the following categories: three books, eight edited collections, 114 journal papers and book chapters, 152 refereed conference/workshop articles and three patent licenses.
